what ever happened to just being able to go to a friendly dump to get rid of rubbish!!!!

at the weekend my mate decided he would borrow a van from his work to dump my rubbish (an armchair and a carpet and a couple of boxes of old ornaments)

he went to the dump first to make sure they knew he'd be coming in a works van and would that be ok......the first thing to get my back up, they said we'll have to see!!

when we got there just because we were using a van we had to park outside the dump and 50m to the side ????????????? but they would allow us a trolley to bring our rubbish in ...awww bless how kind!

I was then told I had to empty my boxes and separate the cardboard from the ornaments!

we then slid the heavy stuff out onto the trolley and brought it in, I have a bad back so I asked the woman working there if we could have some help, she replied no I'm not allowed, I then asked the bloke working there and he said, I can help if ur disabled!!!!!! in the end someone else who was dumping rubbish helped us.............I wasn't the only person at that time getting wound up, why R these people even there if they're not going to be of any use at all no wonder people fly tip its less hassle!

once when we went there we had to give our post code...the que was enormous!

whatever next will we need a passport and a birth certificate to get rid of our rubbish?

Our local dump is much the same. if we arrive in marks work van we have to pay a 'van charge'. if we ring them to come and collect it(lol) its a list of 'do and donts'..I mean I know we have health and safety laws but dear gods the men who work in the dump would have to be candadates for the 'darwin awards' (ie death by silly fluke) to get harmed or die from what we dump! Best yet was when I tried to get them to collect a mattress. they couldnt tell me what day it would be or time, so I told them that my hubs would have to carry it down stairs for me and leave it in our driveway in anticipation of being collected. 'Oh no we cant collect it if it is wet from rain' so i was told to leave it indoors.SO I explained that since i didnt know what time or day they were coming that it would have to remain outside as i cant lift it (unless they could help me carry it from upstairs) you can imagine the answer i got to that lol.uurrgghhhhhhhhh..we do have rather lovely round-a-bouts and flowers beds and hanging baskets in and around our town though-must be where the money goes in our council ;) Love and light, wendy xoxoxoxox 6 Fév.

	Olde Waldea écrit : I've just moved house. The second time we've moved in six years so all the stuff that hasn't been used went to the tip. Getting there within an hour of opening makes a big difference, having a trailer really helped, (private car not a works van) and no hassle, just sensible stuff like opening boxes so they can pick thrugh stuff to recycle, check you're not dumping hazardy stuff and generally trying to protect OUR, get it O.U.R. environment. Big sign saying 68% recycled. Tree wood and cardboard being easiest, houshold rubbish being the hardest. Love Southampton. 15 Oct.

We have a huge work van, but they charge all vans for going into the dump, so we ended up taking the 1000 pieces of our broken builtin ward robes to the dump in my new car! They wouldnt collect it from side of the house if it was wet(helloo its northern ireland-rains alot) They refused to empty our bins afew months ago because the lid had blown open in the severe winds(its ok i have to admit i complained and mark stopped the lorry and they apologised-said it was health and safety).its never ending !!!!!!!!
