what ever happened to just being able to go to a friendly dump to get rid of rubbish!!!!

at the weekend my mate decided he would borrow a van from his work to dump my rubbish (an armchair and a carpet and a couple of boxes of old ornaments)

he went to the dump first to make sure they knew he'd be coming in a works van and would that be ok......the first thing to get my back up, they said we'll have to see!!

when we got there just because we were using a van we had to park outside the dump and 50m to the side ????????????? but they would allow us a trolley to bring our rubbish in ...awww bless how kind!

I was then told I had to empty my boxes and separate the cardboard from the ornaments!

we then slid the heavy stuff out onto the trolley and brought it in, I have a bad back so I asked the woman working there if we could have some help, she replied no I'm not allowed, I then asked the bloke working there and he said, I can help if ur disabled!!!!!! in the end someone else who was dumping rubbish helped us.............I wasn't the only person at that time getting wound up, why R these people even there if they're not going to be of any use at all no wonder people fly tip its less hassle!

once when we went there we had to give our post code...the que was enormous!

whatever next will we need a passport and a birth certificate to get rid of our rubbish?

in general life has been fun and interesting but why once you get to a certain age (and have kids) does it fly by like a cheata on speed?!  i'm 37 tomorow and it only seems like yesterday that i wished i was 16 so i could smoke and do nawty things and 18 so i could drink, i was wishing my life away :(  (and i don't believe i waited for those ages to come along to be able to do those things.......except the sex  of course i was  at least 25 b4 i lost my virginity lol (said with fingers crossed lol)

anyhow, i'm 37 tomorrow and got the wrinkle cream at the ready! industrial size jar lol and i have 2 kids that r wishing their lives away!!! stop it!!!!! christ reading back on this i sound like a right miserable old bat!! lol i'm not, i'm the happiest i've been for a long time except for the pmt :)

hello all, and thank you for ur comments on the 'seasons 'debate I think the summer won by a mile lol not surprising so I hope we get some more good weather and get to enjoy the summer as I've now got the pool out!

I was surprised at how few people commented on the fur trade debate, I really thought it would get a bigger response but thank you to all of U who gave ur views and I think we all know what the out come was.............

my mate Colin and I have had the bright idea to take Jenna and a friend and ourselves for weekends away in a tent.....we saw a tent on E-bay that needed some attention so the sellers said, we watched and waited and bid at the last minute on a 6 berth tent for £25 we weren't really sure what to expect...when we got it back  (and had great laughs putting it up lol) in the garden we found the only problem was a broken zip! which can be easily sorted and the tent is huge!!!! we got a BARGAIN! (or rather Colin did lol)

hello again here i am with more babble :) i hope ur week has gone well? mines been interesting lol well anyway at the bottom of my garden, infact in most areas of my garden i have a nettle problem, for ages i have been trying to think of ways to get rid of them until i heard that years ago nettles where used in cooking...so i fished about on the net and found that the french use nettles in many foods including icecream!!!!!! anyway i was so gobsmacked by what i found out about the miss understood "weed" that i thought i should share it with u................i've tried the nettle tea and found that with honey its rather nice, i'm going to cook some soon and see what i think, i no longer look at my nettles in a bad way, here's what i found on one site:

"If you are harvesting your own nettles for consumption be sure to pick only young, fresh tops, ideally in the Spring, although you should be able to harvest fresh tops throughout the Summer - wear some thick gardening gloves to avoid being stung, or snip the tops off so that they fall into a basket. Ensure that you only pick nettles which are free from crop spray and avoid ones found growing by the side of busy roads or in built up areas. If you are harvesting the root the best time is in the Autumn.

The practice of urtication (generally as a remedy to rheumatic and arthritic aches and pains) dates back at least 2,000 years - fresh nettles are used to sting the affected area. This practice still continues today, and those that use it do report considerable relief from arthritic pains, but if you'd prefer a gentler option try drinking a nettle infusion on a regular basis - which will help clear out toxins in your joints. Nettle has a long history of use for arthritis, rheumatism and gout, and is effective at treating other inflammatory conditions such as tendonitis and bursitis.
A cleansing tea, especially beneficial to the liver and kidneys and the circulatory system, can be made by infusing 1 teaspoon of dried nettle to one cup of freshly boiled water - leave to infuse covered for at least 5 minutes. Blends particularly well with lemon balm and tastes delicious with a dash of fresh lemon juice. A nettle infusion is helpful in anaemic cases, especially where the anaemia is a result of heavy menstrual bleeding, and is an ideal cuppa for the 'time of the month', when it will help remedy bloating and breast tenderness, as well as heavy periods - and its iron content is an added bonus.

Nettle tea is also an effective remedy for dust and pollen related allergies / hay fever and asthma - in fact the stinging nettle is highly beneficial to the respiratory system in general, and has a long history of use in treatments for bronchitis, whooping cough, colds, tuberculosis and related lung problems. Culpeper recommended the use of nettles to ’...consume the phlegmatic superfluities in the body of man, that the coldness and moisture of winter has left behind.’

I mentioned earlier that nettle is beneficial to the kidneys - so it should come as no surprise that it's a remedy for [and preventative of] kidney stones. It's also a remedy for bladder infections - and it's a gentle and safe herb so you can happily drink several cups of nettle tea a day. It will help flush out toxins and support your kidneys, liver and circulatory and respiratory systems (which will in turn help remedy respiratory problems, clean out toxin build ups in joints and inflamed joints and tendons etc..)

For skin conditions dried nettles make an excellent healing ingredient to facial steams, and a nettle infusion or cream is good for acne, boils, and oily skin. Nettles are great for the hair (and have been cited as a remedy to thinning hair and baldness). If you're cooking any nettles up to eat, reserve the water you use to cook them in and use it as a hair rinse. Or you could just brew up a strong infusion of dried nettle leaves [and / or roots] and use as a hair rinse / scalp friction, or make up a herbal cider vinegar by steeping nettles in cider vinegar for a few weeks. Of course, drinking (or eating) nettles will also help improve hair condition."
